
P-Bruins Defeat Whale 3-2

Hartford, CT - The Providence Bruins defeated the Connecticut Whale3-2 Saturday evening at the XL Center. The P-Bruins got two goals from Maxime Sauve and a goal from Zach Hamill . Providence is back in action at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Silly Band Night against the Worcester Sharks.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 4:57 mark of the opening period. The Whale turned the puck over in their own zone, giving Sauve a breakaway. He backhanded the puck between the legs of Whale goaltender Chad Johnson and into the net for his eighth goal of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the first intermission.
After a scoreless second period, the P-Bruins made it 2-0 at the 1:33 mark. Jordan Caron chipped the puck off the boards to Hamill. He put a shot on net, but Johnson was there to make the save. Hamill grabbed his own rebound though and tallied his third goal of the season. Providence took a 3-0 lead at the 6:13 mark. Jamie Arniel sent the puck to Sauve, who skated past two Whale defensemen, before shooting the puck into the back of the net for his second goal of the game and ninth of the season. Connecticut battled back with a power play goal at the 17:30 mark. Oren Eizenman netted his third goal of the season, while Kelsey Tessier and Evgeny Grachevrecorded the assists. The Whale pulled within a goal at the 19:53 mark, while on a 5-on-3 man advantage. Brodie Dupont tallied his eighth goal of the season, with Michael Del Zotto and Eizenman picking up the assists. The P-Bruins held on for the 3-2 victory.
Matt Dalton stopped 34 of 36 shots for the P-Bruins, while Johnson made 15 saves for the Whale. The P-Bruins were 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-5 on the penalty kill.
