P-Bruins Defeat Falcons To Open Pre-Season

Marlboro, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 4-1 Wednesday evening at the New England Sports Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Adam Pineault, Rob Kwiet and Alain Goulet. The P-Bruins are at Iorio Arena in Walpole, MA, Thursday versus the Lowell Devils at 6:05 p.m. for their second pre-season game.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 8:37 mark of the opening period, while on the power play. Pineault tipped the puck into the net off a shot from Jordan Knackstedt, while Kwiet had the second assist. Providence went ahead 2-0 at the 14:35 mark, while on a 5-on-3 man advantage. Kwiet netted his first goal of the pre-season off a shot from the left point, with Jimmy Fraser and Alain Goulet getting the assists. The P-Bruins went into the first intermission leading 2-0.

After a scoreless second period, the P-Bruins made it 3-0 at the 1:11 mark of the third period. Goulet scored his first goal of the pre-season from the right point, while T.J. Fox and Matt Marquardt recorded the assists. Springfield got on the board at the 6:24 mark. Bryan Lundbohm netted his first goal of the pre-season, while Adam Henrich and Dylan Stanley grabbed the assists. The Falcons pulled within a goal at the 19:02 mark, while on the power play. Stanley scored his first goal of the pre-season, while Henrich and Colton Fretter had the assists. The P-Bruins held on for the 3-2 victory.

Adam Courchaine stopped 32 of 34 shots for the P-Bruins, while Aaron Sorochan made 22 saves and Andrew Perugini made 13 saves for the Falcons.  The P-Bruins were 2-for-8 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.
