Columbus Assigns Goaltenders Dan LaCosta and Kevin Lalande

Syracuse, NY (September 23, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned goaltenders Dan LaCosta and Kevin Lalande to the Crunch.

LaCosta, 23, appeared in 45 games with the Crunch last season, going 19-18-2 with a 2.79 goals against average, .913 save percentage and two shutouts. He also skated in three games with Columbus last year, going 2-0-0 with a 1.54 goals against average .950 save percentage and one shutout.

A native of Labrador City, Newfoundland, LaCosta was selected by Columbus in the third round, 93rd overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Lalande, 22, appeared in 21 combined AHL games with the Crunch and Quad City last season, going 13-5-1 with a 2.17 goals against average, .928 save percentage and one shutout. He also skated in 21 games with Las Vegas (ECHL) last year, going 9-8-2 with a 2.39 goals against average, .925 save percentage and three shutouts.

A native of Kingston, Ontario, Lalande was originally selected by Calgary in the fifth round, 128th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired in a trade by Columbus from Calgary in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2009 Entry Draft, on March 4, 2009.

The Crunch open their 16th AHL season on Saturday, October 3 in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Syracuse opens up at home the following weekend when they face Adirondack on Saturday, October 10.
