P-Bruins Defeat Falcons 3-1

Springfield, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 3-1 Saturday evening at the MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Brad Marchand, Zach Hamill and Jordan Knackstedt. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night against the Syracuse Crunch.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 advantage at the 16:11 mark of the opening period. Trent Whitfield picked up the puck in the corner and left it in the slot for Knackstedt. He passed it off to Marchand, who was waiting back door to score his 11th goal of the season. Providence led 1-0 going into the first intermission.

Providence went ahead 2-0 at the 4:57 mark of the second period. Craig Weller chipped the puck up the boards giving Hamill a breakaway. He skated down the right wing and scored top shelf, his tenth goal of the season. The P-Bruins grabbed a 3-0 advantage at the 17:18 mark. Jared Ross held the puck in the zone at the blue line and passed it to Whitfield in the corner. He found Knackstedt in the slot, who tallied his sixth goal of the season. The Falcons got on the board at the 19:06 mark, while on the power play. Chris Armstrong netted his third goal of the season, with Chris Minard and Charles Linglet recording the assists. The P-Bruins led 3-1 going into the second intermission.

After a scoreless third period, the P-Bruins went on to the 3-1 victory.

Kevin Regan stopped 37 of 38 shots for the P-Bruins, while Devan Dubnyk made 29 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 0-for-2 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
