
P-Bruins Defeat Devils 2-1 In Pre-Season Game

Walpole, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Lowell Devils 2-1 in a shootout Thursday evening at Iorio Arena. The P-Bruins got a goal from Adam Pineault in regulation and Jamie Arniel in the shootout. The P-Bruins wrap up the pre-season at the MassMutal Center against the Springfield Falcons Saturday.
After a scoreless opening period, the Devils took a 1-0 lead at the 7:37 mark on an unassisted shorthanded goal from Stephen Gionta. Lowell went into the second period leading 1-0.
The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 8:55 mark of the third period. Adam Pineault scored unassisted, his second goal of the pre-season. The game went into overtime tied at one.
After a scoreless overtime, the game went into a shootout. Arniel was the first shooter in the shootout and scored to give the P-Bruins the lead. None of the other nine shooters scored as the P-Bruins went on to the 2-1 shootout victory.
Matt Dalton stopped 28 of 29 shots in regulation and all five shots in the shootout for the P-Bruins, while Mike McKenna made 29 saves in regulation and four saves in the shootout for the Devils. Â The P-Bruins were 0-for-6 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
