Peoria Rivermen News Release

ST. LOUIS (September 24, 2009) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has reduced its roster to 28 players by assigning forward Yan Stastny to the Blues' American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

Stastny, 26, played in 30 regular season games for the Rivermen last season and accounted for 12 goals and 7 assists to accompany 21 penalty minutes. He added four more points (2g, 2a) in six playoff games against the Houston Aeros. Stastny began the year with the Blues and played in 34 games before a thumb injury forced him out of the lineup. He had seven points (3g, 4a) and 20 penalty minutes in the NHL.

Over his four-year professional career, he has appeared in a total of 87 NHL games and recorded five goals and 10 assists for 15 points. The Quebec City, Quebec native was originally Boston's eighth round selection, 259th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Stastny is the son of Hockey Hall of Famer Peter and the brother of Colorado Avalanche center Paul.

The Rivermen now have 36 players (22 forwards, 10 defensemen, and four goalies) in training camp leading into their preseason games this weekend against Rockford. Peoria will take on the IceHogs at Carver Arena on Friday night at 7 p.m. The series will shift to the MetroCentre on Saturday night. Saturday's game will be broadcast live on Hippie 101.1 FM.
