Owlz Bats Are Silenced in 8-0 Loss
July 11, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Northern Colorado Owlz News Release
OREM - The last game of a four-game series against the Billings Mustangs was rough for Orem, as they were shutout 8-0. Owlz pitcher, Jared Ruxer, got his 5th start of the season on the mound for Orem. He started the first inning off well, giving up only one hit and striking out two. However, in the second inning, he walked the leadoff hitter, Tyler Stephenson, who came around to score after getting two outs. Ruxer would end his outing after giving up two more earned runs.
Coming in for relief was Jeff Malm who went 4.1 innings, giving up two hits and striking out six. The Owlz had ample chances to put runs on the board but ended the game stranding a total of 21 runners.
Billings came into the game as the number one pitching and double play turning team in the Pioneer League. This became evident on the field as they got the Owlz to hit into four double plays. Starting pitcher, Ty Boyles, went seven full innings, giving up no earned, while striking out five to pick up his second win of the season.
Tomorrow night the Owlz will face another Montana team as the Helena Brewers come to town for a three game series.
The game will begin tomorrow night at 7:15 P.M.
It can be watched on KPDR, channel 19, or heard on audio.oremowlz.com.
