Owlz Take Series Opener 6-2
July 11, 2015 - Pioneer League (PL)
Helena Brewers News Release
The Helena Brewers (8-12) dropped their series opener with the Orem Owlz (16-8) at Brent Brown Ballpark by a score of 6-2 on Saturday night.
The Owlz took an early lead with a run in the bottom of the first. Hutton Moyer hit a solo homerun to left off Marcos Diplan, his third round-tripper this year.
Diplan would pitch four innings, giving up two runs and five hits while striking out two. He would not receive a decision.
Trailing 2-0 going to the third, the Brewers would tie it up when Monte Harrison smacked a two-RBI single to score Jose Cuas and Milan Post. It was Harrison's fifth hit in two days. He would have to leave the game in the bottom of the fourth due to injury.
Sliding for a liner in center, Harrison injured his lower back and was pulled from the game for precautionary reasons. Omar Cotto Lozada would play the remainder of the game in his place.
The rest of the way belonged to the Owlz, as they scored four unanswered runs in the victory. Kyle Survance went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base. He now has 13 stolen bases this season to take back the Pioneer League lead in steals.
Jake Drossner (0-1) entered the game in the fifth with a 2-2 tie, but was shaken up in his three innings of relief. He gave up four runs on four hits and struck out. It was his first professional decision.
The Brewers and Owlz will face off in the second game of their three-game series Sunday at Brent Brown Ballpark. First pitch is set for 4:15 p.m.
