July 2, 2008 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Reno Silver Sox News Release

The Silver Sox (11-21) offense was unusually quiet last night as the Outlaws (11-22) pitching staff held the Silver Sox to just six hits and two runs in the 10-2 loss at Peccole Park in Reno.

Starting pitcher Steve Russell (3-4) allowed five runs off nine hits, walking two and striking out six, and taking the loss on the night in his 5.2 innings. Giorgio Fuda came in to relieve Russell, but couldn?t find the strike zone as he gave up four runs on one hit, struck out one, and walked five in his two innings. Finishing out the game for the Silver Sox was Steve Alexander who allowed one run off one hit, struck out one and walked two.

Outlaws starting pitcher Trevor Caughey shutdown the explosive Silver Sox offense as he pitched seven innings allowing only one run off four hits, walking five, and striking out seven Silver Sox batters.

CF Gary Harris was the only batter to knock in a run off Caughey all night. Harris went two for five with one RBI. C D.J. Dixon was the only other Silver Sox player to knock in a run. In the eighth Dixon hit a rocket single down the first base line to score RF Ross McCoy. Dixon was one for four with an RBI.

The Silver Sox couldn?t rally in the ninth and dropped game two of the four game series with the Outlaws.
