Yuma Scorpions News Release
[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The Scorpions organizational goal is to develop young players in their careers. Head Coach Randy Murphy has signed second year player Kyle McCullough to help continue the team's vision.
McCullough, 24, played his rookie year with the Bloomington Prairie Thunder in the International Hockey League (IHL). In 74 games, he scored 20 points (10G, 10A) and 10 penalty minutes.
Before becoming a pro, McCullough played four years at UMASS-Dartmouth, leading them to consecutive Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Championships in 2006 and 2007. The winger finished with 156 points in his career, seventh most on Corsairs history.
"This is a high energy guy who will work hard and be a real team player," said Murphy. "He has a good scoring touch around the net and I am excited to help him develop into a better hockey player."
McCullough showed offensive improvement every year collegiately. He scored 25 points in 26 games his freshman year and was named to the ECAC All-Rookie Team. In 2006-07, his senior season, he scored 48 points (17G, 31A) in 28 games, second on his team in scoring.
