
Outlaws Even Series With 10-2 Win Over Reno

RENO, NV - Trevor Caughey allowed just one unearned run over seven innings and Casey Garrison led the Chico offense with three hits and four RBI as the Outlaws downed Reno 10-2 Tuesday night at Peccole Park on the University of Nevada, Reno campus...Chico evening the four-game series with the Silver Sox at a game apiece.
Four batters into the contest, the Outlaws had jumped in front - with one out in the top of the 1st, Jesse Kovacs singled to center off Silver Sox starter Steve Russell...then on the next pitch Garrison ripped a double down the left field line, plating Kovacs. Jose Valdez followed with a double down the right field line to drive home Garrison to give Chico a 2-0 lead. In the 3rd the Outlaws went up 3-0 when Garrison singled home Kovacs. Caughey kept the Reno offense in check until the 4th, when Andre Alvarado scored on a Gary Harris single to trim Chico's lead to two. The Outlaws responded with two runs in the 5th when Todd Gossage singled home Lino Garcia and came scored on a double by Matt Ceriani to give Chico a 5-1 lead.
In the 7th, Garrison blasted a solo homer off Silver Sox reliever Giorgio Fuda to put the Outlaws up 6-1...then in the 8th Chico was handed three gift runs on a bases-loaded walk to Garrison and back-to-back hit-by-pitches to Valdez and Julian Benavidez to make the score 9-1. Reno plated a run off Outlaws reliever Rudy Quinonez in the bottom of the 8th - D.J. Dixon knocked in Ross McCoy with a single to right - then in the 9th Chico completed the scoring when a bases-loaded walk to Kovacs forced home Ceriani. Rob Ellis came in from the Outlaws bullpen to retire the Silver Sox in order in the bottom of the 9th to put the wraps on Chico's second win in their last three games.
Caughey (3-2) allowed just four hits and struck out seven to earn the victory...Russell (3-4) was saddled with the loss. The Outlaws racked up 11 hits - Gossage and Kovacs joined Garrison in posting multi-hit games...Harris had two of Reno's six hits on the night. Tuesday's win improved the Outlaws record to 11-22 for the season...the Silver Sox dropped to 11-21 on the year. Game three of the series is scheduled for Wednesday; right-hander Berek Fasking (1-3) will get the start for Chico.
