Otters Out-Dueled
August 9, 2008 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release
Traverse City, Mich. - One run was all that was needed by either team, and that run came from the Traverse City, as they beat Evansville 1-0 on Saturday night at a very windy and cool Wuerfel Park. Former Purple Ace Kai Tuomi was fantastic on the mound, as he sat down the first 13 men he faced. He went on to give up only two hits in seven scoreless innings, but one inning after he exited, Traverse City was able to plate the lone run of the game on a two out hit by Brad Roblin.
The Otters had chances but could not capitalize, leaving five runners in scoring position, including two that were left at third base in the first three innings. The Evansville offense was shut down on only five hits, as Traverse City's starter Brett Bostelman (5-3) threw eight scoreless innings to get the win. The Otters will go for the series win in Sunday's finale, with first pitch slated for 4:35 CDT.
