TRAVERSE CITY, MI - A night after being shutout, the Traverse City Beach Bums returned the favor to the Evansville Otters by shutting out the guests 1-0 at Wuerfel Park on Saturday.

The Beach Bums scored their lone run in the bottom of the eighth against the Evansville bullpen, snapping a stretch of 16.2 innings without scoring. Jeff Brown singled with one out and moved to second on a sacrifice by Mike Epping. Brad Roblin stepped to the plate and lined a 1-2 pitch from Nick Utley into the left-center field gap to score Brown with the game's only run.

Brett Bostelman earned the win, outdueling Evansville's Kai Tuomi. Bostelman threw eight shutout innings to earn Beach Bums Player of the Game honors. He allowed just four hits while walking three and striking out two. Bostelman left runners in scoring position in the first, second, third, fifth, and seventh innings. Jared Locke tossed the ninth to pick up his third save.

Kai Tuomi had a perfect game going into the fifth, retiring the game's first 13 batters before Eric Newton singled. Tuomi threw seven innings and struck out six while allowing just two hits.

Brad Roblin finished 2-for-4 as the only player for either team to record more than one hit.

The Beach Bums (38-36) will conclude the season series with Evansville tomorrow night at 5:30pm. RHP Steve Roberts (0-1, 3.08) gets the baseball for the Beach Bums against Evansville RHP Mike Damchuk (2-2, 5.17).

- The shutout was the Frontier League leading ninth of the season for the Beach Bums, but the first in the second half; The last shutout occurred at River City one month to the date, Ajuly 9

- Ryan Kottke started behind the plate and left the game with an injury in the seventh inning; Patrick Perry replaced him

- Steve Young got the game off but entered at second base in the ninth inning

- Jake Whitesides recorded an outfield assist on a force out at third when Gered Mochizuki dropped a flare into left with runners at first and second
