
Otters Look to Even Series at Schaumburg this Afternoon

(SCHAUMBURG, ILLINOIS) - The Evansville Otters (45-29) continue a three-game road series with the middle contest against the Schaumburg Boomers (45-32) on Wednesday afternoon.
First pitch is set for 1:00 pm CDT at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.
Fans not going to the game can listen live on WUEV 91.5 FM and WUEV.org .
Play by play announcer Mike Radomski will have the call beginning at 12:45 pm CDT.
It is Grandkids Day Out.
LHP Jose Velez (1-2, 2.55 ERA) will start for the Otters against Boomers righty Eddie Cody (4-1, 2.75).
Velez is making his second start of the season for the Otters after beginning the season in the bullpen.
Evansville lost the series opener to Schaumburg 12-5 to last night. INF Shayne Houck hit his Frontier League best 20th home run of the year. The home run also passed Jeff Goldbach (2005) for most home runs hit in a single season in Otters history.
Schaumburg leads the all-time series 10-9 against Evansville. The Otters won two of three earlier this year at home against the Boomers.
The Otters had three players in the Frontier League All-Star game on July 16. 3B Shayne Houck started the contest going 2-for-2. Nik Balog pinch hit and played first base, going 0-for-1 with a walk. Josh Allen finished the night 0-for-2 as a defensive replacement and second baseman.
Houck is on an 13 game hitting streak for the Otters. Outfielder Jeremy Nowak and John Schultz have both hit safely in eight straight.
The Otters are a Frontier League best 20-14 on the road this season.
