May 26, 2012 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release
(JOLIET, Illinois) endash The Evansville Otters held a one-run lead but the Joliet Slammers would score the next handful of runs in a 5-1 home victory on Saturday night.
In the third, Alex Foltz hit an RBI single to left field, giving Evansville the 1-0 lead. The advantage was only short-lived though as Joliet then scored two runs in the bottom of the inning against Evansville starter Garrett Bullock.
Leading 2-1, Joliet would go scoreless for the next few innings until a three-run bases clearing double from outfielder David Fox in the sixth.
Evansville was unable to score the remainder of the night as the Joliet Slammers would win by that final score of 5-1.
The Otters have now lost back to back games for the first time this season as the Slammers have strung together three straight wins.
The victory goes to Joliet starter Eric Binder (1-0) who pitched six innings, struck out seven hitters, and allowed just one run. Lefty Garrett Bullock (0-1) takes the loss for Evansville, surrendering five earned runs over six innings.
The Otters will try to salvage the final game of the series on Sunday and avoid a sweep. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. at Silver Cross Field in Joliet.
