Gateway Grizzlies News Release

LONDON, ONTARIO, CANADA - After dropping three one-run games during the current road trip through Pennsylvania and Canada, the Gateway Grizzlies picked up a 4-3 victory Saturday night at Labatt Park. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Grizzlies.

Gateway (3-5) never trailed in the game, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead after three and a half innings. Chris McClendon picked up a sacrifice fly in the third while Jon Myers had an RBI single in the fourth.

London (2-6) picked up a run in the fourth to make it 2-1, but the Grizzlies rallied for single tallies in the fifth and sixth to make it 4-1. Jerod Yakubik drove in a run on a single in the fifth and Jonathan Johnson collected a sac fly in the sixth.

The Rippers rallied for a run in the sixth and eighth, but never came any closer as Grizzlies reliever Richard Barrett shut the door in the ninth for his first save of the season.

Yakubik led the Grizzlies with three hits and Case Rigby also enjoyed a multi-hit game.

Alex Kaminsky (2-0) got the start and picked up the victory, his second of the season. Kaminsky went five innings, giving up two runs on four hits. He struck out three and walked three.

The Grizzlies conclude their three-game series against the London Rippers on Sunday afternoon in Canada. Right-hander Jonathan Gonzalez will get the start for the Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 1:00 EST.
