CHILLICOTHE, OH â The Evansville Otters fell behind early, but rallied to score five runs beating the Chillicothe Paints 5-2.
Evansville spotted the Paints a 2-0 lead on a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning. The game would stay 2-0 into the fifth when following a single by Denver Stuckey, Cole Hilt followed with his sixth homer of the season to left-center field tying the game at 2-2.
Evansville scored two more in the sixth. After a Terrence McClain single to start the inning, O. J. Garza reached on an error by pitcher Michael Kesten to put runners on second a third. A David Trujillo sac fly made it 3-2 and with two outs, Jonathan Ramirez singles to bring in Garza and give the Otters a 4-2 lead.
Evansville tacked on an insurance run in the seventh inning. Trailing 5-2, the Paints scored two runs in the ninth to make it interesting before Amad Stephens locked down his ninth save of the season.
The save came in support of Andre Simpson who won his league leading fifth game of the season. Simpson went 5.1 innings allowing five hits and two runs.
Evansville sends Scott Barber to the mound tomorrow to try to complete the sweep of the Paints. He will be opposed by Josh Rahrer.
