Ottawa Signs Defenceman Falk to Two-Way Deal

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today that the club has signed defenceman Justin Falk to a one-year, two-way contract. The contract will carry a value of $650,000 in the National Hockey League and $185,000 in the American Hockey League, prorated for the duration of the season. Falk will travel to Ottawa and is expected to be available to the team for tomorrow afternoon's game.

Falk, 30, has played in 269 career NHL games with the Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers, Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres, scoring three goals and adding 30 assists. Last season, the 6-5, 223-pound defenceman played in 46 NHL games for Buffalo, recording two points (one goal, one assist).

This season, Falk participated in the Calgary Flames' training camp before signing a professional tryout with the American Hockey League's Colorado Eagles. He appeared in eight games with the Eagles, scoring one goal and adding one assist.

Falk has played in 278 career AHL games with Houston, Iowa, Lake Erie, Rochester and Colorado, scoring 44 points (1o goals).

A native of Snowflake, Man., Falk was originally drafted by the Wild in the fourth round (110th overall) in the 2007 NHL Draft.
