Belleville Senators News Release

The Belleville Senators opened its four-game homestand with a 4-2 win over the Utica Comets in a North Division match-up at CAA Arena.

In his first start of the season, Marcus Hogberg made 25 saves while Adam Tambellini, Logan Brown, Jordan Murray and Filip Chlapik scored. Thatcher Demko stopped 29 shots while Tanner Kero and Tony Cameranesi had goals.

Trailing 2-1 heading into the third, the Senators tied the game through Brown's third of the year at 6:09 as he finished off a great pass from Chase Balisy. Belleville had the lead at 9:39 as Murray's wrister from the left faceoff beat Demko as his fourth of the year turned out to be the game-winner.

Chlapik sealed the deal with 35.9 seconds left as he buried the empty-netter.

The Senators came out buzzing in the first and were finally rewarded for their pressure through Tambellini who wacked his eighth goal of the season out of the air at 10:04 after Erik Burgdoerfer's initial shot had been saved.

The second period saw the tides turn as Utica turned up the pressure with Hogberg making a big right pad save on Michael Carcone on a breakaway before Nick Paul and Darren Archibald dropped the gloves after the Comets forward ran over Patrick Sieloff. The spark led to the Comets tying goal through Kero at 15:20 as he buried a rebound from an acute angle.

The visitors had the lead at 17:34 through Cameranesi's first of the season as he also potted a rebound after Hogberg had made back-to-back saves to deny Carcone in close.

Belleville continues its homestand Saturday when they host the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Tickets are available.
