Adirondack Thunder News Release
Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Calgary Flames, have announced their plans for Opening Night, presented by Nemer Ford, on this Saturday, October 24.
The Thunder have partnered with the Glens Falls Collaborative to make October 24 a city wide event. The Collaborative is running their annual Boo 2 U event from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in Downtown Glens Falls. The Thunder's mascot, Gunnar, will be at Boo 2 U and will lead a parade of costumed kids from the downtown area to the Civic Center, where the Thunder's "Party in the Plaza" will commence at 4:00 p.m.
The Party in the Plaza, which runs from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., will consist of entertainment for families in between the end of Boo 2 U and the start of Opening Night, presented by Nemer Ford. The party will be headlined by live entertainment from John Pratt at Hits 95.9 and Mike DuBray at WCKM 98.5 and will include Pony Rides and a Petting Zoo, a bounce house for kids and face painting, provided by Party Palace and an inflatable bungie run, brought by Word of Life, a Beer Garden, provided by the Glens Falls Civic Center and an opportunity to get your picture taken with Gunnar, provided by the Post Star. Food will be available in the plaza through the Cheesy Does It food truck.
The party kicks off the Thunder franchise as the team opens their inaugural season at home at 7:00 p.m. against the Manchester Monarchs. The buffet is back with a new flair, run by Davidson Brother's Brewing Company. The buffet will cost $17 for all you can eat and Davidsons is running two enter to win specials, for a $25 Davidsons gift card and two free brewery tours. Opening Night will also include $2 Bud Light draft beers through the end of the first period.
All Boo 2 U participants will receive special discounted tickets at the Civic Center Box Office. All costumed kids can get an $11.77 ticket and their parents can receive a discounted $15.78 rate.
