MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach Richard Seeley has announced that the Monarchs have been assigned defenseman Josh Brown by the Portland Pirates (AHL) by the Florida Panthers (NHL), traded defenseman Dennis Brown to the Tulsa Oilers (ECHL), and saw Jordan Samuels-Thomas re-called up by their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign.
Josh Brown, a native of London, Ontario, spent last season with the Oshawa Generals of the OHL. In 60 games, Brown tallied 21 points on 4 goals and 17 assists, earning 92 PIMs and a +49 rating. The Six-foot-four, 215-pound right shot was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the 6th round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Dennis Brown leaves Manchester after spending parts of three seasons in the Los Angeles Kings organization. Brown spent his first full professional season with the Ontario Reign in 2014-15 after graduating from Western Michigan University. With the Reign, Brown played in 47 games, registering 15 points on one goal and 14 assists, 30 PIMs and a +15 rating.
Samuels-Thomas played in the first ECHL game of the season for the Monarchs after playing in 63 games for the Rochester Americans (AHL) last year. Samuels-Thomas recorded eight points on three goals and five assists, racking up 70 PIMs for Rochester.
The Monarchs are back in action Saturday, Oct. 24 (7 p.m.), when they visit their division rival, the Adirondack Thunder, for the front end of a home-and-home series. The Monarchs will return home Sunday, Oct. 25 (3:00 p.m.) for a matinee with the Thunder.
