Monarchs Take Season Opener, Prepare for Two-Game Weekend Series

MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Manchester Monarchs, proud ECHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, opened their first season in the ECHL on Friday, Oct. 16, defeating the Brampton Beast 2-1 at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

Matt Leitner scored the first goal in ECHL franchise history, beating Brampton goalie Bryan Pitton at 12:29 of the third period. The game winner was sent home off the stick of Derek Arnold just 30 seconds later.

The victory marked the first career win for head coach Rich Seeley.

The Monarchs are back in action Saturday, Oct. 24 (7 p.m.), when they visit their division rival, the Adirondack Thunder, for the font end of a home-and-home series. The Monarchs will return home Sunday, Oct. 25 (3.p.m.) for a matinee with the Thunder.
