Kalamazoo Wings News Release
KALAMAZOO, MI- The Vancouver Canucks have re-assigned defenseman Anton Cederholm from the Utica Comets to the Kalamazoo Wings, the team announced Wednesday.
Cederholm, 20, joins Kalamazoo for his first season of professional hockey in North America. The 6-foot-2 defenseman spent the last two seasons with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League, registering 35 points (13 goals, 22 assists), 179 PIMs and a +57 rating in 139 games.
A fifth round (pick #145) in 2013 of the Vancouver Canucks, the Swedish defenseman has represented team Sweden in the IIHF World Junior Championships at both the U18 and U17 levels.
"He's a very solid defenseman," K-Wings head coach Nick Bootland said. "He makes a great first pass, has good vision, and can skate well, too."
Cederholm will wear number two for Kalamazoo and should make his season debut with the Wings on Friday against the Toledo Walleye.
The Kalamazoo Wings host the fifth annual Susan G. Komen night at Wings Event Center next Friday, October 23. The 7:30 p.m. contest features specialty jerseys and numerous silent auction items. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Single-game tickets are now on sale! Tickets can be purchased at kwings.com or at the Wings Event Center box office. Box office hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
