Oort to compete with Team Netherlands

GREENVILLE, SC â The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers, have announced the forward JOSH OORT has been recalled to Amsterdam, Holland and will compete with Team Netherlands in an Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Poland. The Grrrowl had agreed to this trip during the summer when Oort signed as a free agent. Oort, has played in seven games and recorded one assist. In another transaction, KRZYSZTOF WIECKOWSKI (6-3, 210lbs., forward) has been activated from the 7-day injured reserve list and will play on Sunday afternoon against the Pee Dee Pride.
The tournament, under the guidance of the International Ice Hockey Federation (www.iihf.com) will begin for Oort on November 11th, and will match his Netherlands National team against Croatia. Lithuania and Poland are also in the pre-qualifying pool in the 24-team tournament. The final scheduled game will be Sunday, November 14th against Poland.
Oort (5-11, 190lbs., center) has dual citizenship (Canadian and Dutch) and played five seasons in Europe before returning the ECHL with the Grrrowl in October. Last year, Oort totaled 113 points in 44 overall games with the Amsterdam Bulldogs, his best season in seven years of professional hockey.
The Grrrowl will be in action at home for five straight games, beginning on Sunday afternoon at 3:05pm against the Pee Dee Pride.
