
'Blades Biten By Ice Dogs 4-1

LONG BEACH, CA â The Florida Everblades (4-4-0) suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Long Beach Ice Dogs (4-2-0) on Saturday night at the Long Beach Arena. Ice Dogs goaltender Chris Madden made 45 saves, and Long Beach took advantage of their power play chances, scoring on both to pick up the win.
The Ice Dogs got things started off quick notching their first goal of the night just 3:10 in the first period when rookie Cory Urquhart banked a wrap-around shot off âBlades goaltender Rob Zepp. Long Beach extended the lead to 2-0 with a late power play goal. Defenseman Treavor Read beat Zepp over the glove with 1:32 remaining in the frame to open the two-goal advantage. The wide open first period saw Florida out shoot Long Beach 14-12.
Florida managed the only goal in the middle period, when Keith Anderson snapped a shot from the left circle past Long Beach goaltender Chris Madden with 14 seconds remaining in the frame to cut the Ice Dogs lead in half.
The Ice Dogs sealed the win with a pair of goals in the third period. Marco Rosa collected his fourth goal of the season at 8:31 of the final period to open a two-goal advantage, and Urquhart finished off the scoring with his second goal of the night into the empty Florida net with 21 seconds remaining in the game.
Zepp suffered the loss for the Everblades, allowing three goals on 28 Ice Dogs shots to fall to 3-2-0. Madden earned the win stopping 45 of 46 Florida shots, including several spectacular saves to raise his record to 4-1-0. The Everblades finished the night 0-for-2 on the power play, while the Ice Dogs finished 2-for-2 on the man advantage.
Florida continues their six-game west coast swing on Wednesday, November 10 when the team plays the first of three straight contests at Idaho at 9:05 p.m. EST.
