March 6, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Ontario Reign News Release
Ontario, CA - The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL), visit the San Antonio Rampage today at 2:00 PT at AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. Today is the fourth of six meetings between the two teams this season.
On the Road Again:
Tonight is the fourth contest of a five-game road trip (2-1-0-0) for the Reign. Overall, the Reign support a 13-8-1-0 road record.
It's Be A Long Time My Friend:
The Reign hold a 1-0-2-0 record against the Rampage with the last meeting coming on November 20 in San Antonio. The Reign skated away with a 4-3 overtime victory. All three meetings have been decided in overtime as the Rampage prevailed 3-2 and 2-1 on October 30 and 31 at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.
When In Dowd, Trust Nic:
Reign forward Nic Dowd leads the team and is second in the series with three points (one goal, two assists). Rampage forward Ben Street, who has been out of the lineup due to injury since late October, leads the series with two goals and two assists for four points including both game-winning goals in overtime against the Reign on October 30 and 31 in Ontario.
Rampage Take Hard Fall:
Heading into their November 20th tilt against the Reign, the Rampage were first in the Pacific Division while the Reign sat second. Since that overtime loss to Ontario, the Rampage picked up just 15 wins over their next 44 games and find themselves seventh in the division moving into tonight's matchup.
Gunslinger Sean Backman Fires Away:
Former Rampage rival Sean Backman (Texas Stars, 2010-11) has five goals and two assists for seven points in his last five games for the Reign.
