Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

LAST NIGHT'S LOSS: Omaha suffered their seventh loss in the last eight games, and clinched their fourth series loss in their last five series, after they racked up five series wins in the previous six series. Omaha and New Orleans are the PCL only teams without multiple July wins.

A GOOD START: Clay Mortensen will make his first home start of 2014 today (one relief appearance of Bruce Chen on June 8), and he has posted the second lowest ERA (1.39) in the PCL since he joined the Chasers on May 28 (Jimmy Nelson of Nashville has a 1.37 ERA in that stretch).

BRINGIN THE PENA: Francisco Pena continues to add to his career high home run total as he hit his team-leading 15th long ball of the season. Pena's previous career high for round- trippers was nine (set last year). His 15 homers this year nearly match his total from the last two seasons combined (16). In his 122 games in the PCL with Omaha/Las Vegas in the last two years, Pena has totaled 24 homers, with just 31 homers in 526 games at any other professional level.

SKY SOCKED: Colorado Springs has now taken eight of the last ten games against the Storm Chasers dating back to the 2012 season. The Sky Sox are the only PCL team Omaha does not have more than two wins against in the last two and a half seasons. Omaha has already lost their first home series as new divisional rivals with Colorado Springs, matching their total in 14 home series when Omaha and Colorado Springs were in the same division in the 1998-2004 seasons.

BASE CHASERS: Omaha leads all of Triple-A with 98 steals, and with two more stolen bases they will total 100 or more steals for the fourth consecutive season. Omaha did not reach 100 stolen bases from 2003-2010 after they stole 173 in 2002 (their PCL high). Only four teams in the PCL (Omaha, Oklahoma City, Reno, Salt Lake) have 100+ steals in each of the last four years.

WORST SINCE BEST: Back on June 17, Omaha was tied for the best record in the league at 41-31, but since then they have the worst record to start the 2nd half in the PCL at 4-13.

NO HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE: Omaha has lost a season high four straight home games, and with a loss today they will match the longest home losing streak at Werner Park (five games twice, one July 15-19, 2012 and the other on May 8 and May 19-22, 2011).

STRIKEOUT STORM: Omaha has three straight games with 10+ strikeouts, their season high for consecutive games. The Chasers had streaks of four games four different times in 2013.

RUN THE NUMBERS: Omaha has been held to less than five runs in six straight games, which matches a season high (May 19-23 was their first six-game streak of less than five).
