Oklahoma City Comets News Release

LAST GAME:

The Oklahoma RedHawks fell 4-3 to the Omaha Royals in a game suspended by chemical spill. The RedHawks held a 2-1 lead on Wednesday evening after four innings when the leak occurred, forcing Rosenblatt Stadium and the surrounding area to be evacuated. The Royals tagged Wes Littleton and Bill White for three-seventh inning runs to take control of the game once it resumed yesterday. Chris Davis hit a solo home run in the eighth to cut the deficit, and Oklahoma had the tying run at second base in the ninth when the final out was recorded. Ramon Colon earned the win, Littleton took the loss, and Brad Salmon notched the save.

TRYING FOR TWO AGAIN:

The RedHawks and Royals were hoping to finish Wednesday's game and play the regularly scheduled Thursday game immediately after, but saw rain force a postponement of the nightcap. The RedHawks will play in their second doubleheader of the season tonight, having been swept at home by Sacramento on May 8. Omaha has now seen seven games postponed due to inclement weather already this season, and has already made up three. The Royals have gone 2-4 in games played on doubleheader days, going 1-3 in the day's first game and 1-3 in each doubleheader's nightcap.

SPILLING OVER:

Ryan Roberts extended his hitting streak to nine games with a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning of Wednesday's suspended contest. His on-base streak is now at 18 games, as is his road on-base streak. The overall on-base streak is currently tied for the fifth longest in the league, and has surpassed Jason Ellison's previous team-best 17-game streak.

HANGING ON:

The RedHawks managed to pick up an extra half game lead due to the rainout of Thursday's regularly scheduled contest. New Orleans lost both games of a doubleheader to Round Rock, while Albuquerque lost to Nashville.

TWICE OVER WELCOME BACK:

Kameron Loe was optioned to Oklahoma yesterday as Texas cleared space for Kevin Millwood on the roster. Low made two appearances since being recalled by the Rangers on May 21, going 1-0 with a 3.86 earned run average. Loe will return to the RedHawks as a starting pitcher after making 16 relief appearances in his first stint this season. The right-hander has made 111 starts combined during his professional career, including 47 at the Major League level and 23 last season for Texas. Loe went 6-11 as a starting pitcher for the Rangers last year.

OMAHA AT A GLANCE:

The Royals enter play today in a three way tie for first place in the division with a hundredth of a percentage point advantage over Iowa and Memphis... Mike Aviles had his contract purchased by Kansas City during the intermission of Wednesday's suspended game...

DOT-DOT-DOT:

The RedHawks are 10-16 this month with three games left to play. Oklahoma went 11-18 in May last season... The RedHawks lost a doubleheader at Omaha May 24, 2007, falling 3-2 and 10-6.

TIME CHANGE:

The RedHawks have announced one time change that differs from the pocket schedules. Oklahoma's game on June 1 with Omaha is now slated for a 2:05 pm first pitch.
