Tucson Victorious In Third Straight To Win Series Against Las Vegas

Tucson, AZ - The Sidewinders' 7-5 victory Friday night over the Las Vegas 51s ensured the team their first series win at Tucson Electric Park this season. The Sidewinders won their third straight contest thanks in part to 6 innings of 3 run ball by starter Billy Buckner.

Las Vegas scored one run in the first inning and took a 2-0 lead in the third off a Andy LaRoche RBI single scoring Chavez.

Tucson added one in the third when a Matt Morgan triple scored Jesus Merchan. Las Vegas put up another in the fourth on a Xavier Paul RBI single.

The Sidewinders were able to tie by scoring two in the fourth on a Jamie D'Antona double and Donnie Kelly single.

The Sidewinders took the lead in the sixth with an RBI single by Merchan. Going in the seventh inning Tucson was able to extend their margin with a Robby Hammock RBI single and a Donnie Kelly double scoring two runs making the score 7-3.

Las Vegas cut the lead by two when Tucson reliever Connor Robertson gave up two runs to pinch hitter Sergio Garcia in the eighth inning. Tucson's reliever Jalien Peguero replaced Robertson in the ninth and was able to secure the win for the Sidewinders and give them the series win.

The Sidewinders will travel to Fresno to face the Grizzles on Saturday night at 7:05 PM for a four game series. RHP Esmerling Vasquez (0-1, 4.91) is scheduled to start for Tucson. Right- hander Ryan Sadowski (0-1, 6.00) will start for the Grizzles. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:50 p.m.
