
River Cats top Beavers 10-3 in series finale

PORTLAND, Ore. - Danny Putnam tripled twice, doubled and drove in three runs, Casey Rogowski was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and the Sacramento River Cats beat the Portland Beavers 10-3 before 5,132 Friday night at PGE Park.
Cliff Pennington hit a solo home run in his Triple-A debut for the River Cats (35-20), who won the final three games of the series to give the Beavers (27-26) three consecutive losses at home for the first time since mid-April.
Kirk Saarloos struck out five, allowed two runs and scattered eight hits over his seven innings to improve to 5-1 with the River Cats, who have won 12 of their last 15 games and 18 of their last 23.
Chase Headley had three hits and two RBIs, Craig Stansberry hit an RBI double and Peter Ciofrone added three hits for the Beavers, who suffered their first losing series at home since April 19-21.
Portland starter Cesar Ramos issued five walks and gave up a season-high nine runs (7 earned) and eight hits in four innings of work for his first home loss since April 6.
The River Cats scored three off Ramos (5-4) in the first and a pair in the second to go up 5-0. Rogowski singled home a run and scored on Putnam's two-out, two-run triple to start the scoring. An inning later, Ramos issued three straight walks and gave up a run on a force out and an RBI single to Rogowski.
Sacramento widened the gap with a four-run rally with two outs in the fourth. Pennington hit a solo homer, Rogowski doubled in a run and scored on an error by second baseman Matt Antonelli, and Putnam hit his second RBI triple of the game for a 9-1 lead.
The Beavers continue their homestand Saturday night when they open up a four-game series with the Las Vegas 51s at PGE Park. First pitch is 7:05 p.m. for Saturday's game, which will be televised live on FSN.
NOTES: The River Cats made eight roster moves on Friday and featured an entirely new starting outfield from the previous game ... the Beavers are 2-6 against Sacramento this season ... Portland is 8-13 in games decided by five runs or more ... the River Cats have won four road series in a row and are 19-12 away from Raley Field this season ... the Beavers will conduct the first of four baseball camps at PGE Park this weekend.
