Surrendered 3 R on 7 H over 7.0 IP with 2 K in 5/22 win vs. IWA (8-3 OMA) LAST GAME: Iowa roughed up rehab starter Luis Mendoza for five runs over two innings and never looked back. The I-Cubs pounded out six hits off Mendoza, including four in the first inning. The RedHawks managed two runs in the third, and got within two at 6-4 after Nate Gold's ninth home run of the season, a sixth inning two-run shot, but could not score after that. Elizardo Ramirez followed Mendoza, pitching the game's final six innings in relief, allowing just one unearned run on six hits.
ADD ANOTHER TO THE STREAK: Taylor Teagarden has hit safely in 15 consecutive games, the longest current streak in the Pacific Coast League. The RedHawks catcher singled in the second inning yesterday extend his hitting streak. Teagarden is hitting .347 during that span, but has only two multi-hit games during the stretch.
DAVIS STARTS: Bobby Jones gave Chris Davis his first Triple-A start yesterday afternoon, and the first baseman responded with a pair of hits and a run batted in. His first Triple-A hit was a third-inning single off Justin Berg, scoring Joaquin Arias in the process.
NORTH WINNING THE ROAD WAR: The RedHawks are 11-9 against the American Conference's North Division, but are just 5-7 on the road within that division. Including the recent trips to Memphis and Iowa, Oklahoma is 2-6 this month against foes from the North after a 9-3 run in April, including a four-game sweep over Nashville at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark in the season's first homestand.
HURLEY ON THE BUMP: Eric Hurley is coming off his best outing this season, pitching seven innings of scoreless baseball in his last start. The right-hander is second in the league with 57 strikeouts, trailing Fresno's Matt Palmer by four K's. He has also allowed 11 home runs this season, spread out over seven of his team-high ten starts.
OMAHA AT A GLANCE: The Royals enter play today in third play in the American- North, a game and a half behind Memphis... Omaha features eight players on the Kansas City 40-man roster, highlighted by today's starter Carlos Rosa, the sixth best prospect in the organization according to Baseball America.
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Texas lost 7-3 at Tampa Bay... Frisco fell 5-2 at Northwest Arkansas... Bakersfield dropped a 12-8 final to Inland Empire. The Blaze surrendered five runs in the sixth and six in the seventh in the loss... Clinton posted the lone win with a 7-2 victory at Cedar Rapids.
DOT-DOT-DOT: With the addition of Chris Davis to the roster, Oklahoma now has three of the top prospects in the Texas organization on its roster. According to Baseball America, Davis is ranked second, today's starter Eric Hurley is ranked third, and catcher Taylor Teagarden is fourth... Ryan Roberts extended his hitting streak to seven games yesterday, and advanced his on-base streak to 16 consecutive games dating back to May 8. Roberts also has a road on-base streak running at 16 straight games... TIME CHANGE: The RedHawks have announced one time change that differs from the pocket schedules. Oklahoma's game on June 1 with Omaha is now slated for a 2:05 pm first pitch.
ON THE AIR: Every game this season can be heard on the RedHawks Radio Network, led by broadcaster Jim Byers for the ninth season, and joined by Adam Marco during each homestand. Fox Sports Radio AM 1340 in Oklahoma City will serve as the flagship station in 2008. The network affiliates this season are KSIW 1450 AM in Woodward, KXCA 1380 AM in Lawton, KPNS 1350 AM in Duncan, KTJS 1420 AM in Hobart, KGFF 1450 AM in Shawnee, and KWSH 1260 AM in Wewoka.
