New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Metairie, LA - The New York Mets have recalled right-handed pitcher Carlos Muniz from the New Orleans Zephyrs, it was announced Tuesday.

The move comes after the Mets placed reliever Matt Wise on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder injury.

Muniz was 2-2 with a 1.80 ERA in 16 games with the Zephyrs this season. Serving as the team's closer, he had recorded five saves in six opportunities, and opened the season by throwing 12 consecutive scoreless innings.

This will be the second tour of duty with the Mets this season for Muniz, who made three appearances in the majors between April 8-12, throwing four scoreless innings.

No corresponding roster move for the Zephyrs has been announced.
