Peter Ciofrone Named PCL Batter of the Week

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Pacific Coast League today named Portland infielder/outfielder Peter Ciofrone its Batter of the Week for the span inclusive of May 19-25.
Ciofrone, 24, batted .429 (12-for-28) with four homers, three doubles, 10 RBIs, 10 runs scored and a .964 slugging percentage in seven games played during the week. He is the second Portland batter to garner the award in 2008, joining outfielder Jody Gerut, who was the PCL Batter of the Week for April 28-May 4.
In 18 games with the Beavers this season, Ciofrone, who was transferred to Portland from Class AA San Antonio on May 1, is batting .313 (20-for-64) with six home runs, three doubles, one triple, nine walks, 12 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
Iowa's Randy Wells was the PCL Pitcher of the Week after going 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA (2er, 11.0ip) and 11 strikeouts in two starts during the week.
