Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers and Iowa Cubs wrap up their four-game series with a doubleheader of two seven-inning games starting at 3:35 p.m. on a Chaparral Energy Family Sunday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Today's doubleheader makes up a game that was postponed April 9 in Des Moines due to inclement weather, and as a result, Iowa will play as the home team in Game 1.
Last Game: Iowa scored a run in the top of the 11th inning to break a tie on the way to a 4-3 win against the Dodgers Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. OKC jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead when outfielder Andrew Toles hit a two-run homer out to right-center field in the bottom of the first inning. OKC starting pitcher Zach Neal pitched six scoreless innings to keep the Dodgers in the lead. He held Iowa to three hits and did not issue a walk, while racking up a season-high seven K's. Once Neal exited the game, Iowa got on the scoreboard in the seventh inning when Jacob Hannemann hit a solo homer. The Dodgers added to their lead in the bottom of the frame on a RBI single by Tim Locastro for a 3-1 advantage. Iowa knotted the game, 3-3, in the eighth on a two-run double by Mike Freeman. The Dodgers loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth inning with none out, but were unable to score. After neither team scored in the ninth or 10th inning, Iowa went on to load the bases with one out in the 11th and Bijan Rademacher grounded into a fielder's choice to score the go-ahead run for a 4-3 Iowa lead. Iowa reliever James Norwood (1-0) then retired all three OKC batters he faced in the bottom of the inning to seal the win. He pitched 2.0 scoreless innings total, allowing one walk with three strikeouts. Dodgers reliever Tyler Pill (3-4) allowed the eventual winning run in the 11th inning and was charged with the loss.
