Iowa Cubs News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - The Iowa Cubs (46-78) dropped both ends of a twin bill, Sunday at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark as the Oklahoma City Dodgers (65-58) took Game 1 5-0 and Game 2 5-2.

Iowa was the home team in Game 1 as the contest was a makeup from an April rainout in Des Moines. The Dodgers jumped on Jen-Ho Tseng in the top of the first, pushing in three runs on a two-RBI double from Edwin Rios and a Travis Taijeron RBI single.

Oklahoma City plated another run in the fifth on an RBI single from Andrew Toles and tacked on one more in the seventh on a Tyler Pill homer as the Dodgers kept control of the game. Tseng was tagged with four runs through 6.0 innings and fell to 2-13 on the season with the loss. Justin DeFratus (3-4) earned the win after 6.0 shutout frames.

Kyle Ryan gave the I-Cubs a chance in Game 2, contributing 3.0 scoreless innings in a spot-start. The lefty held the Dodgers to just one hit, did not walk a batter and struck out two.

The floodgates opened in the fourth as the Dodgers tagged Alberto Baldonado with three runs, helped by a two-run blast from Kyle Garlick. The home team continued their offensive outbreak into the fifth, plating a pair on a passed ball and a Tim Locastro RBI double to capture a 5-0 edge.

Iowa fought back in the sixth, but couldn't close the gap. Ryan Court roped a single to score Terrance Gore from second to crack the shutout. Mike Freeman reached on a single later in the frame and came in on an error.

The I-Cubs take the day off tomorrow before starting a three-game series in Colorado Springs on Tuesday. Follow the action on AM 940 or www.iowacubs.com.
