ALLEN, TX - Rookie forward Jeff Jubinville scored twice in the third period to help the Tulsa Oilers secure a 4-2 preseason victory over the Allen Americans on Tuesday night at the Allen Event Center.

Former Oiler forward Gary Steffes opened the scoring for the Americans with less than two minutes remaining in the first period. Brian McMillin added to the home team's advantage on a shot past Tulsa netminder Matt Mahalak with only 10 seconds left in the opening frame and Allen held a 2-0 advantage heading into the second period.

The Oilers' rally began early in the middle frame as Justin Gvora, a 27-year old rookie forward out of Thunder Bay, Ontario, found the back of the net at the 2:31 mark. With just 44 seconds left on the second period clock, Tulsa center Steve Mele put home the game-tying goal. The Oilers fired 26 of their 38 total shots in the second period.

The contest remained deadlocked at 2-2 until Jubinville, a product of Bemidji State University, put the Oilers in front with just over two minutes to play in regulation. In the closing seconds, Jubinville provided an empty-net insurance tally to seal the win for the Oilers.

Tulsa goaltender Kevin Carr, who entered the game at the halfway point, turned aside all 14 shots he faced while Mahalak registered 22 saves on 24 shots.

The Oilers went 0-for-5 on the power play but were effective on the penalty kill and shutdown all four Allen power play opportunities.

The two clubs will meet again in the regular season opener on Friday, October 24 at 7:05 p.m. in Allen. Tulsa's home opener is scheduled for Sunday, October 26 at 4:05 p.m. against the Wichita Thunder.

The Oilers continue training camp on Wednesday with a 9:00 a.m. practice at the Oilers Ice Center.
