RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Anaheim Ducks and the AHL's San Diego Gulls, and powered by Community Care, shut out the Rapid City Rush 5-0 on Wednesday night at The Monument in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Despite outshooting Rapid City 19-6 Rico DiMatteo stopped all 19 chances, with
Vyacheslav Buteyets turning in his first-of-three perfect frames on the night with six saves.
Dylan Fitze broke the game open 7:31 into the second period, popping a spinning feed from Tyrell Goulbourne over DiMatteo to place Tulsa up 1-0. Fitze netted his second of the second period with 5:49 left in the frame, beating DiMatteo short side with another topshelf finish. Josh Nelson scored his third goal in as many games 1:26 later, burying a feed delivered from below the goal line by Justin Michaelian, securing his 30th point of the season and a 3-0 lead for the Oilers.
Fitze capped his hat trick with another first-class snapshot at the 15:47 mark of the third period, placing the Oilers up 4-0. Lukas Jirousek capped the dominant night with a power-play tip with 1:58 remaining, closing the score 5-0 in Tulsa's favor.
