Stingrays Add Forward and Former Cornell University Captain Joe Devin

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, signed forward Joe Devin, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today.

Devin, 27, spent the last two seasons in Germany and Sweden totaling 56 points (30 goals, 26 assists) in 62 games. Last season, the Scituate, Massachusetts, native tallied 19 goals and 16 assists for 35 points in 35 games with Visby/Roma (Sweden).

Before heading overseas, Devin split the 2011-12 campaign between the Cincinnati Cyclones (ECHL) and the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL) adding 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 71 games. From 2007-11, he attended Cornell University acquiring 64 points (37 goals, 27 assists) in 116 games, served as team captain his senior season and was a member of the 2009-10 ECAC championship team.

The Stingrays kick off the 2014-15 season on Friday, October 17 against the Florida Everblades at 7:30 p.m. at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida and continue a season-opening three-game road trip the following evening, Saturday, October 18, against the Everblades at 7:00.

The Stingrays celebrate Opening Night on Saturday, October 25 at 7:05 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum! The world-famous Zooperstars perform all night and the first 5,000 fans receive a Savage Law Firm 2014-15 magnet schedule.
