
Oilers Recall Barons Forward Alex Giroux

The Edmonton Oilers, parent club of the Oklahoma City Barons, recalled forward Alex Giroux, Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini announced today.
Giroux, a 6-3, 200-pounder from Quebec City, Quebec leads the Barons in goals (29), assists (36) and points (65). His point total is good for second among all American Hockey League players, while his goal total is third on the circuit.
He has appeared in 31 NHL games with Washington and the New York Rangers, scoring nine points (4-5-9) while serving 16 penalty minutes. He is among the most prolific scorers in the AHL over the last 10 seasons, leading the league in goals each of the last two. The 29-year old was originally a 7th round draft choice (213th overall) of the Ottawa Senators in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Giroux will join the Oilers in Denver for their game tonight against the Colorado Avalanche. Faceoff is at 9 p.m. (ct). The game will be re-aired tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. (ct) on NHL Network. Check local listings for details.
The Barons finish a weekend series with the Abbotsford Heat tonight at the Cox Convention Center at 7:05 p.m. The Abbotsford Heat are the AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames.
