Oil Kings Regular Season Schedule Announced

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings are proud to release their schedule for the 2012-13 WHL Regular season. The 2012 WHL Opening Weekend will launch on Thursday, September 20 in Edmonton. As is tradition the WHL Season Opener will be hosted by the defending WHL Champions. It will be a banner night as YOUR 2012 WHL Champion Oil Kings take on the 2011 WHL Champion Kootenay Ice in the Oil Kings Home Opener at Rexall Place. The game will be broadcast LIVE on SHAW TV starting at 7:00 pm (MT).

The Oil Kings regular season schedule includes several home game highlights including: the Oil Kings Annual Teddy bear Toss on December 7th versus Calgary, a New Year's game on December 30th versus Kootenay and a Family Day Monday match up versus the Prince George Cougars on February 18th. Edmonton will play host to a very family friendly schedule with 28 out of 36 games on weekends or holidays and seven Sunday match ups.

Edmonton will play a rematch of the 2012 WHL Championship with a game vs. the WinterHawks in Portland on February 27th. The defending WHL Champions will have four games vs the 2013 Memorial Cup Host Saskatoon Blades and six games vs their "Battle of Alberta" rivals the Calgary Hitmen.

Edmonton's 72 game regular season schedule is set to conclude on Saturday, March 16th with the 2013 WHL Playoffs and the battle for the Ed Chynoweth Cup scheduled to begin on Friday, March 22nd. The WHL and the City of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan will serve as the official hosts for the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup. The Saskatoon Blades will host another WHL Club (either Champion or runner-up), Ontario Hockey League Champions and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Champions from May 17 - 26, 2013.
