Giants Release 2012-2013 Regular Season Schedule

VANCOUVER, BC - The Vancouver Giants Hockey Club is proud to release their 2012/2013 regular season schedule. The 12th season of "Hockey with Heart" gets going with the Giants Home Opener on Friday, September 21 against their division rival Victoria Royals at 7:30pm at the Pacific Coliseum. The Giants' first road game will be the following night in Victoria.

The 2012/2013 Western Hockey League regular season will once again be comprised of 72 games for each club - 36 home and 36 away. Those 36 Giants home games will consist of 15 Fridays, 4 Saturdays, 10 Sundays, 6 Wednesdays, and 1 Monday (Family Day - Feb 11).

Friday home games will maintain the traditional 7:30pm start times, while Saturdays and most weekdays remain 7:00pm; the only exceptions being a game on BC's newest holiday - Family Day - at 2:00pm, and a January 2nd game starting at 5:00pm due to travel considerations. Most Sunday home games will now begin at 4:00pm allowing families with school-aged children to make it home a little earlier than usual (Sunday's used to be 5:00pm starts). The only exception to the Sunday 4:00pm starts will be on February 24 when the Giants host Seattle at 2:00pm.

"We are very excited about our schedule for the upcoming season and feel it's one of our best ever from a fan's point of view", says Giants Vice President of Operations Peter Toigo. "We made a conscious effort to spread out our home games as evenly as possible through the season, and are looking forward to slightly earlier start times on Sundays to keep with our family-friendly theme."

The Giants will also host a major event this season - the Subway Canada/Russia Super Series - on Wednesday, November 14th at 7:00pm. It will be the fifth game of the six-game series and will feature a team of World-Junior-eligible WHL All-Stars take on a similar squad of World Junior hopefuls from Russia.

The Giants will release a complete list of special events and promotions in the very near future, as well as on-sale dates for single game tickets.
