Prince Albert SK - The Prince Albert Raiders selected forward Leon Draisaitl with the 2nd overall selection in the Canadian Hockey League Import Draft earlier today.

Draisaitl, a native of Cologne, Germany, recorded 21 goals and 35 assists for 56 points in 35 games last season for Jungadler Mannheim Under-18. In 2010-2011, left-shooting Draisaitl amassed 97 goals and 95 assists for 192 points in 29 games for his Mannheimer Under-16 team.

The 6'2", 198-pound forward has international experience, scoring 7 points in 6 games as an underage player at the 2012 World Under-18 Championships this spring. The 16-year-old also played for his country at the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, scoring 5 points in 5 games.

"We are extremely pleased to have drafted Leon," said Raiders General Manager Bruno Campese. "He is an offensively gifted player with an elite hockey sense."

The Raiders traded their 2nd round selection in the CHL Import Draft to the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for a 7th round Western Hockey League Bantam Draft pick.

The team has also announced that import forward Jonas Knutsen will be returning to the team for the 2012-2013. In 49 games as a rookie last season, the Oslo, Norway product scored 6 goals and 6 assists.
