Oil Kings Fall 5-3 to Kamloops
November 22, 2015 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
The Edmonton Oil Kings were hoping to bounce back in Kamloops after a loss the night before in Kelowna and looked good heading into the 2nd intermission, only to surrender a two-goal lead in the 3rd and drop a 5-3 decision to the Kamloops Blazers.
Edmonton looked solid heading into the 3rd period at Sandman Centre, with a 3-1 lead courtesy of tallies from David Koch, Tyler Robertson and Brayden Gorda. But Kamloops found their offence early in the 3rd with four unanswered tallies to win it.
Deven Sideroff got the Blazers on the board 8:36 into the opening frame, but the Oil Kings replied with three straight of their own. Koch evened the score before the end of the 1st with his second goal of the season, while Robertson tallied his seventh and Gorda lit the lamp with his first in the middle frame to put Edmonton up by two.
Despite the lead, Ondrej Vala, Collin Shirley, Nick Chyzowski and Gage Quinney scored for Kamloops within a span of 5:14 in the 3rd to give the home side the come-from-behind win.
The loss dropped the Oil Kings to 8-14-3-0 on the season, while Kamloops improved to 17-5-0-1. Between the pipes, Patrick Dea turned aside 25 of the 30 shots he faced for Edmonton.
With their six-game road trip in the books, the Oil Kings return to home ice on Wednesday to battle the Regina Pats at 7pm at Rexall Place. They won't be able to get too cozy back at home, though, as they're back on the road for two weekend games in Saskatoon & Prince Albert.
