
Giants Lose 5-2 in Kelowna

Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants gave up three goals in the first period and went on to lose 5-2 to the Kelowna Rockets on Saturday night at Prospera Place. Carter Popoff and Tyler Benson scored for the G-Men.
Calvin Thurkauf, Tyson Baillie and Nick Merkley all had first period goals to vault the Rockets in front in the early going. Neither team scored in the second period, but Baillie tallied his second of the evening early in the third period to make it 4-0.
The Giants battled back as Popoff and Benson both scored goals from in tight to pull the Vancouver club back to within two goals, and goaltender Ryan Kubic was pulled in the late stages as the Giants tried to stage a comeback, but Merkley would score his second of the night into an empty net to ice the victory.
The Giants will continue their road swing on Wednesday night when they visit the Spokane Chiefs. Puck drop is slated for 7:05pm.
