CHARLESTON, W.V. - Ethan Stewart had not allowed an earned run in either of his previous two starts, but was tagged for eight runs- four earned- in four innings in West Virginia's 13-2 win.

West Virginia led 5-1 before scoring five runs in the bottom of the 5th to take control of Wednesday's game off Stewart.

Stewart had won his last four decisions and was 4-0 over his last six appearances before picking up the loss. He allowed three runs in the 5th inning before being removed from the ballgame. His final line was 4.0 inning pitched, eight runs (four earned runs), seven hits, four walks and two strikeouts.

Chris Duffy went 0-for-4 and had his 19-game hitting streak snapped. Duffy, the reigning Philadelphia Phillies Minor League Player-of-the-Month who was 32-for-73 (.438) during the streak, fell five games short of equaling Jiwan James' team record of a 24-game hitting streak. In the ballgame, Duffy's 36-game on-base streak ended in which this marked his first ballgame with the BlueClaws in 2012 that he did not reach base.

The BlueClaws and West Virginia Power will play Game 2 of a five- game series at Appalachian Power Park Thursday evening. Lino Martinez (3-4, 6.50) was held out of his spot in the rotation four days ago, but he will be on the mound for the BlueClaws against West Virginia's Nick Kingham (1-5, 5.50).

First pitch for Thursday's game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Listen to all the action on WOBM 1160-AM and WOBM 1310-AM beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the BlueClaws Beat pre-game show.
