WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento catcher Stephen Vogt continued his recent stretch of hot hitting, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored in a 10-3 Cats win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Raley Field on Tuesday night.

For the second straight night in a row a team would begin their night with a leadoff home run. This time it was Colorado Springs outfielder Charlie Culberson, who took Sacramento starter Andrew Werner deep in the first inning. Stephen Vogt responded in the bottom half of the inning with a solo blast of his own, homering for the fourth time in his last six games.

The Cats followed up in the second inning to score three runs off of a couple of two-out RBI hits. Andy Parrino delivered the first blow, singling home Michael Taylor and Hiro Nakajima to push the Cats ahead. Jemile Weeks followed to put Sacramento up three with his eighth triple of the season. The Cats tacked on another run in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a wild pitch from Sky Sox starter Jeff Manship to bring in Vogt from third. A five run eighth inning in which scored off of two-RBI hits from Daric Barton and Michael Choice and an RBI single from Taylor all but sealed the win.

Werner earned his ninth win of the season for the Cats, placing him just one behind teammate Bruce Billings for the league lead. Through 7.0 innings on the mound the southpaw surrendered one run on four hits while tying his season-high in strikeouts with seven. Manship took the loss for the Sky Sox, falling to 5-8 on the season. In 5.0 innings of work he gave up five runs on six hits and two walks.

With his 2-for-4 night at the plate Nakajima extended his season-high hitting streak to 14 games, the longest such streak of any Sacramento player this season. Vogt carried the previous team high this season, ripping off a 13-game hitting streak from April 7 to April 21. The one run given up by Werner was the lowest total he had given up in a winning effort since May 17 against Oklahoma City.

The River Cats continue their four-game series with the Sky Sox at Raley Field on Free Parking Wednesday presented by Jiffy Lube and Bark in the Ballpark. That night will feature a matchup between the recently optioned Sonny Gray (8-5, 2.81), who will be making his first start with the Cats since July 4, and right-hander Chris Volstad (5-2, 4.78 ERA).
