Reno Aces News Release
LAS VEGAS, Nev.- The Las Vegas 51s bats exploded for a 10-run inning Wednesday night, and it proved to be enough, as Reno fell 12-10 to the 51s at Cashman Field.
Reno tallied a run in each of the first three innings, as they jumped on 51s starting pitcher Jacob deGrom early on. Tyler Bortnick delivered an RBI triple in the second, and Ed Easley singled home another in the third to put the Aces up 3-0.
RHP Charles Brewer was supplied a three run advantage for the Aces, but couldn't hold onto the lead, as he allowed 7 ER in the bottom of the third inning. LHP Eury De La Rosa came on relief for Brewer, but Las Vegas continued its torrid inning, with three additional runs. When the dust settled, the 51s had put 10 runners across the plate in the third on 10 hits.
The Aces tried their best at a big comeback with two runs in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings. After a solo home run by Mike Jacobs in the eighth, Reno trailed Las Vegas by only two runs, but it proved to be too little too late.
Juan Rivera had a big night at the plate for Reno despite the loss, as he finished 4-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Tony Campana, Mike Jacobs, Matt Davidson and Ed Easley each tacked on multi-hit games for the Aces.
The series continues Wednesday night at Cashman Field. RHP Nate Adcock (5-4, 7.15 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, and will be opposed by 51s RHP Matt Fox (3-3, 4.93 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. PT, and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
Reno returns home Friday, with the Tacoma Rainiers coming to Aces Ballpark for a four-game series. Tickets are available for the upcoming homestand, and all remaining Aces home games, at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
