Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
Gary Railcats starting pitcher Tony O'Donnell shut down the Lincoln Saltdogs offense Wednesday night, pitching a complete game while allowing just 1 run in a 4-1 Railcats win.
Gary got on the board first, scoring two runs on two hits and a walk in the first inning off Lincoln starting pitcher Alex Carbajal. The Saltdogs would respond with their lone run of the night in the third inning, as a Clemente Bonilla single scored Jorge Moreno, who had singled to lead off the inning. The Railcats added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, and that would be plenty behind O'Donnell's pitching. He allowed all of Lincoln's four hits in the first five innings, holding the Saltdogs hitless in the final four frames.
Bonilla led Lincoln with two hits, while Curt Lee scored two of Gary's four runs. O'Donnell improved to 3-4 on the season. Carbajal was making his first start of the season, and allowed three earned runs on five hits and 3 walks over four innings, while striking out five. He falls to 0-1 on the season. Travis Teeter allowed just 1 unearned run in five innings pitched to keep the Saltdogs within reach.
Gary improves to 2-1 in the second half (15-36 overall), while Lincoln falls to 1-2 in the second half (30-21 overall). The clubs will meet up in the final game of their four-game series on Thursday night. The Gary Railcats starting pitcher has not yet been announced, while Adam Springston (5-2, 3.12) is the probable starter for the Saltdogs in a 7:05 PM contest.
