Northern League All-Star Roster Changes

The Northern League announced today that four players, three from the North Division, and one from the South Division, have been added to the rosters for the league's 2004 All-Star Game, which takes place on Tuesday, July 20 in at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Illinois.

North Division all-star manager Doug Siminuc of the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks has added righthanded pitcher Brad Purcell and shortstop Max Poulin of Winnipeg and lefthanded pitcher David Glick of Sioux City to his roster.

Poulin (.319, 1 hr, 24 rbi) replaces Sioux Falls' Marc Mirizzi, who underwent an appendectomy last night and will be sidelined for about three weeks. Simunic also announced that Fargo-Moorhead's Bryon Jeffcoat, named as an All-Star reserve, will replace Mirizzi as the starting shortstop in the North lineup.

Purcell (5-2, 3.41) and Glick (5-5, 3.63) take the spots of Fargo-Moorhead pitchers Nick Brannon and Nick Mattioni, who were both sold to the Oakland A's organization on Tuesday.

South Division all-star manager Jeff Isom of the Joliet JackHammers has added righthanded reliever D.J. Johnson (4.44, 9 saves) of the Kansas City T-Bones to his pitching staff. Johnson replaces Schaumburg lefthander Anthony Boughner, who was sold to the Cincinnati Reds organization on Monday.

The 2004 Northern League All-Star activities include the Skills Competition on Monday evening; the All-Star Luncheon at 12 noon on Tuesday, and the All-Star Game on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. Each of the two All-Star rosters is comprised of 21 players.
