
Gulledge leads RedHawks to victory over Winnipeg; All-Star Catcher Drills 3 Doubles, Goes 5-for-5

Fargo, NDâ Kelley Gullede went 5-for-5 with three doubles and three RBIs as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 10-6 on Wednesday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo. The victory moves the RedHawks to 2-0 in the second half and 34-16 overall, while Winnipeg dropped to 0-2 and 26-23 overall.
The Goldeyes opened the scoring in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Harry Berrios. The RedHawks responded in the bottom half of the inning, as Bryon Jeffcoat tied the game with a solo home run, his second home run in as many games and 11th on the season.
The RedHawks took a 2-1 lead in the second inning on Joe Mathis' RBI fielder's choice and held that lead until the top of the fifth. The Goldeyes pushed three runs across the plate to take a 4-2 lead. Amaury Garcia had a two-run single and Darryl Brinkley added an RBI single. Fargo-Moorhead answered back with a single run in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI double from Kelley Gulledge to pull within one. The âHawks would then tie the game in the bottom of the sixth on Steve Foley's sacrifice fly.
Fargo-Moorhead took over the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, pounding out five runs off Winnipeg reliever Dusty Keppen. Gulledge drilled a two-run double down the left field line to open the scoring. Jason Kinchen delivered the big blast, a three-run home run to right field that made the score 9-4. Mathis added an
Fargo-Moorhead starter Todd George threw 6.0 innings for the RedHawks but didn't figure in the decision. He allowed four runs (two earned) on nine hits. George struck out two batters and walked one. Manny Bermudez (1-0), in his first outing as a RedHawk, earned the victory with a pair of scoreless innings. Winnipeg reliever Dusty Keppen (0-1) took the loss, allowing all six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
